When
the tracklist for G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer hit last week, something that immediately got me sweating out of excitement was the leadoff pairing of Chicagoans Kanye and R. Kelly for a track called “To The World.” Now, a short preview — which contains Kels’ quotable, epic hook — has popped up online. And I gotta say, Kels steps up so magnificently that it’s straight up anti-climactic when Kanye comes in; “The whole world is a couch / And bitch I’m Rick James tonight,” Kels sings, pretty much telling everyone to fuck off. Since it’s early, I don’t want to go on the record and say that it’s more memorable than
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy‘s grand “CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?” intro, but, it’s close. With “
Clique” in the fold, the bar for this record is set
high. Listen at
Fake Shore Drive.
