Grackle

Formed in the winter of 2015, Grackle was the brainchild of Steve Katsikas (vocals, keys, sax) and longtime collaborator Jeff Gard (drums and percussion).  Initially a recording project, the two musicians recruited Steve Dietrich on bass to form a live touring version of the band.  The band released their debut album, Wintergarden, in the summer of 2016 to wide acclaim.  An album described as “Indie Piano Rock” and “Adventurous Singer/Songwriter music for folks looking for something different”, the band has enjoyed performing throughout the South and Midwest, developing a niche sound that invites the attention of the listener.

The band’s core musician have a wide range of influences that include jazz and fusion, progressive rock, psychedelic soundscapes, and straight up power pop that comes together in a unique and refreshing way.  Jeffrey Lee Puckett of the Louisville Courier-Journal called the band “one of the top-5 must-see shows in Louisville”.  Their album has been featured on WFPK radio and the band has performed multiple times on WHAS Television’s Great Day Live morning show.
The band is determined to bring their unique sound to new audiences through their release of Wintergarden and their live support of the album.
